The Quarter Acre Ranch Story

front of the house

This California Bungalow home was built by William Young in 1920, a citrus rancher who migrated from Nebraska around 1900 and owned a little over 20 acres in the area. The house was constructed for his son, Clarence Young, who was married to Elsie Young. Clarence Young was the manager of the Bank of Italy (later Bank of America) in the small and growing City of Fillmore.

Here is the description and some photos of the house from the online listing:

Our Ranch!

The house sits on a little more than a quarter acre, hence the name – Quarter Acre Ranch!

We don’t plan to raise any animals on our ranch, mostly because we don’t want the responsibility of caring for them or having to find someone to look after them when we are away. Growing up, my dad had cattle and a few pigs, and they were a lot of work. The only animals we plan to have are our dogs (Romeo and Tucker) and a few feral cats that hang around. We will be growing different items and we have a few different fruit trees.

The picture above of the house looks nice but let me tell you there is a lot of work hidden under those pretty pictures. So please come back and watch our progress as we attempt to make this our home.
